Winning the Southwest Ohio Conference softball title is out of the hands of the Harrison Ladycats as they head into the final two weeks of the regular season. After splitting a pair of games with Little Miami last week, the Ladycats are 5-3 in the SWOC, two games behind league-leading Edgewood in the loss column and one behind Little Miami.

Harrison is still alive in the race for the Southwest Ohio Conference baseball title this spring and it likely will come down to the completion of a suspended game against Little Miami, which was scheduled to take place this Tuesday, to determine Harrison’s chances.

After a pair of losses to top-scale competition, the Harrison Wildcats tennis team battled to a big 3-2 win over Little Miami that improved Harrison’s record in the Southwest Ohio Conference to 2-2. 

“It was a rough beginning of the week, but we bounced back against Little Miami,” said Harrison coach David Williams.

The Harrison boys’ track team doesn’t have a much depth. What it does have is a small group of top-flight athletes who do well against good competition. Last week, the competition came to Harrison for the school’s annual Harrison Invitational and coach Scott Menze was pleased.

 An Aurora native who rose to fame as editor of The New Yorker fell to disrepute after he was arrested on a charge of criminal libel brought against him by Congressman Joseph L. Rhincok of Covington, Ky.

On Tuesday, May 2, the people of Harrison have the opportunity to vote for city council candidates in the republican primary. There are 4 seats up for grabs with all four incumbents running with two others running against them.
