Weather Spotter Class
A free Weather Spotter Class will be presented by The National Weather Service, Wilmington, Ohio, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Dearborn County Emergency management, 401 W. High St., Lawrenceburg. The class will be co-hosted by Dearborn County Emergency management and Ohio County Emergency Management. The National Weather Service office in Wilmington uses Doppler radar and satellite pictures as its primary tools to detect severe weather. However, the most important tool for observing thunderstorms is the trained eye of the storm spotter. By providing observations, you are assisting meteorologists at Wilmington in their warning decisions, and enabling the NWS to fulfill its mission of protecting life and property. You are helping provide the citizens of your community with potentially life-saving information.

Early spring waterfowl migration will be the primary focus of this Oxbow Inc. trip starting at 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, in the upper parking lot at the main entrance of the Oxbow. Many species of waterfowl (ducks, geese and swans) migrate through the Oxbow in large numbers every spring. Late February is also a great time to find large numbers of Bald Eagles in the Oxbow area. Trip leader, Joe Bens, knows the Oxbow area inside and out. Mud and cold weather are guaranteed, so dress appropriately. This morning trip should end before noon. Old Friends Bright Beginnings
Old Friends Bright Beginnings luncheon for Thursday, March 5, will feature a speaker from the Cincinnati Museum Center Heritage Program who will give a presentation on “America’s Sweetheart” Doris day. North Dearborn American Legion will serve a chicken dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 25329 Legion Road, New Alsace. All-you-can-eat chicken dinner with all the trimmings. Carryout dinners available. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 children ages 4 to 10.

New Alsace Conservation Club will serve up a Sausage and Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 29, at North Dearborn American Legion, New Alsace. Biscuits and gravy, sausage and pancakes, home fries, ham, coffee, juice, fruit and eggs to order. Cost is $10 for adults, $4 children 10 and under and children under 3 eat free.
Movers and Shakers
Every Monday at 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Harrison Branch Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County presents Movers and Shakers. You and your child will sing, dance and enjoy music, movement, and fun. Recommended for ages 1- 4. No registration required.
The Old Time Fiddlers group meets the first Sunday monthly from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Harrison VFW Post 7570, 9160 Lawrenceburg Road.
