More than 150 families received holiday assistance on Saturday, Dec. 21, through a collection and distribution effort organized by Southwest Local Schools, the Harrison Mayor’s Fund, Christ’s Loving Hands, JTM Food Group, and This City, His City. Each family received four bags of groceries, a box of JTM products, toys, and winter clothing.

TEAM EFFORT

Eddie and Melissa Richardson began Arena 5/9 in part because of their sons’ love of Nerf guns, but it was also a way for the couple to give back to the community, and honor their son, Mason, who beat Burkitt’s lymphoma. Some of the business proceeds regularly benefit a family in need, or organizations such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. On Dec. 23, the family went a step further, and organized a Christmas event from which 100 percent of proceeds benefitted The Dragonfly Foundation, which supports young patients dealing with cancer.
