An opportunity for third- through eighth-graders to spend the day studying prehistoric occupation of the Middle Ohio Valley is offered at Shawnee Lookout Park. Mid-late April dates are available. Kids and guides will hike along the 1.5-mile Miami Fort Trail, visit the archaeology exhibits, participate in a re-created excavation, and more. Transportation must be provided throughout the day, as well as lunch and drinks. The program, which can last up to 4 1/2 hours, begins at Shawnee Lookout Golf Course Clubhouse. Registration, $5 per student for each program, is required at least two weeks in advance by calling 521-7275 ext. 240. More information can be found by emailing abrafford@greatparks.org. A valid Hamilton County Park District Motor Vehicle Permit ($10 annual; $3 daily) is required to enter the park. |
