Just about everybody cooled off in the giant puddle and chilly spray from the Harrison Fire Department’s truck Tuesday evening, June 16. Only moments later, the heavens opened up and rain joined the hose’s spray but that didn’t stop the children and dog from their fun.

Collin Schmidt is a fearless 8 year old boy. He’s the kind of kid that hangs upside down on his first time on a zip line. He’s spunky, fun, energetic. A gifted student, he loves school so much that during Christmas Break, he told his parents Danielle and Nick Schmidt that he was ready to go back. 

Coach Gene Williams was particularly pleased with the turnout for the youth volleyball camp at the high school with 90 girls from grades four through nine taking part. The Ladycats currently are taking part in a lifting and conditioning program three days a week and will be joining a summer league at Mason for three nights from July 14-16.

There will be some familiar faces on the sidelines to assist new Harrison Ladycats volleyball coach Gene Williams, including two former Ladycats who played under Williams when he was an assistant coach to his predecessor, Amy Berwanger.

The Southwest Ohio Conference Middle School Track Meet at Talawanda High School ended with a sixth place finish for both Harrison Junior School’s boys and girls teams. The top finishers for the boys were Max Gorham who took first place in the pole vault with a distance of 8 feet, 6 inches.

It was summer, school was out, it was 1959, and I was 14 years old, a real red-blooded teenager. 

What to do on a Saturday night in Harrison? Well from 7:30 to 10:30 every Saturday night, the Cats Cave Canteen was swingin’. 

The 2015 Woman of the Year Award was bestowed upon a very deserving member, Maria Rosemeyer, during Xi Eta Iota’s annual Founder’s Day celebration on Thursday, April 23, 2015.
