With four Harrison Council seats on the line this year, three incumbent Republicans and a GOP newcomer have filed for the Tuesday, May 7, Primary, according to Hamilton County Board of Elections records. The deadline to register was Wednesday, Feb. 6. Long-time councilmen Tony Burkart, Bill Neyer and Randy Shank, and newcomer Ryan P. Grubbs filed to fill four at-large council positions. An earlier report by Harrison Press Editor Joe Awad that five GOP candidates are running is inaccurate. “Councilwoman Acra had nothing to do with the inaccuracy of the original story,” said Awad. “The error strictly was my fault. I apologize to her and our readers.” Ohio law requires council candidates running on a party ticket to participate in the Primary. Independents are exempt from the May election. •May 4 - Applications for absentee ballots to be mailed must be received by the Boards of Election by noon.
