One year after winning a silver medal in ESPN’s Winter X Games men’s ski slopestyle competition, Nick Goepper was good as gold Sunday, Jan. 27. Goepper, 18, whose mother, Linda, and father, Christian, own Liberty Tax Service in Harrison, grew up skiing the 400-foot hill at Perfect North Slopes. He made his third and final run his best, scoring 94 points to hold off three skiers who broke 90 at Colorado’s Buttermilk Mountain. A Hidden Valley Lake resident, Goepper became the ninth men’s ski slopestyle gold medalist in the nine-year history of the X Games.
