The St. John the Baptist Athletic Association never offered soccer to parishioners until the fall of 2012 and already the school can claim a state championship. The fifth/sixth grades combo team coached by John Rewwer, Mitch Penick and Vinh Tran captured the SAY state title on Nov. 18, finishing the season with a record of 17-1. “It’s something the girls will never forget,” said Rewwer. Members of the team included: Angie Schoenung, Brookelyn Towe, Natalie Penick, Sara Shipman, Jenna Schoster, Jacklinh Tran, Ashley Cornelius, Sydney Roberts, Evelyn Herrmann, Abby Duebber, Emma Rewwer, Morgan Hawk, Lauren Tumlin, Jessica Shipman, Grace Young, Megan Bley, and Angela Borcher.
