Harrison Avenue may be converted into two through lanes near the entrance of the K-mart plaza headed east and the Skyline entrance headed west to alleviate the number of accidents that occur in that vicinity, but Harrison officials intend to talk with business owners first to explain the concept.

The city’s street committee is giving the idea serious consideration in the wake of a letter from Police Chief Chuck Lindsey to Mayor Joel McGuire addressing the “increasing frequency of auto accidents on Harrison Avenue at the entrance/exit to McDonald’s, K-Mart, and Taco Bell.”
