The body of Harrison resident Lance Cpl. Charles D. New was expected to arrive at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport at about 7:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2.

The Marine, who survived four roadside bombings, died in his sleep, at Camp Lejeune, N.C., this past Sunday, Oct. 28.

The 23-year old, a native of Miamitown, graduated from Harrison High School in 2007. New served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Harrison police and fire personnel as well as Whitewater Township Fire Department and state police will escort the procession from the airport to Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, New Haven Road. Meanwhile, Harrison residents will line Carolina Trace Road to pay tribute to New.

New died two days before he was to be honorably discharged. Naval officers are investigating his death, which came three weeks after another Marine died in his sleep at Camp Lejeune, according to news reports.

Visitation is Sunday, Nov. 4, beginning at 1 p.m. at Harrison High School. His funeral follows at 5 p.m. New will be buried with full military honors at Miamitown Cemetery.

He is the son of Angie Long (Darrell Inman) and Charles (Kaye) New Jr. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan. 66675
