As of Monday morning, Oct. 29, the cause of death for Robert Settle, Harrison, was yet to be determined, according to Terry Daly, communications officer for the Hamilton County Corner. Settle was slated to begin trial Tuesday, Oct. 23, for charges stemming from a stand-off with police last year. After jury selection on Monday, Oct. 22, Settle was transported from the Hamilton County Justice Center to the hospital where he died the following day. On the evening of Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 Harrison police entered Robert Settle's Shaker Point Apartment home to investigate a shooting and possible suicide attempt. Settle fired at officers and the Hamilton County SWAT was called in. A three-hour stand-off ensued and Interstate 74 was shut down. During the stand-off, it was estimated Settle shot 15-20 rounds at police officers and also shot himself in the shoulder. Settle had multiple medical issues and cause of death was not anticipated to be of criminal nature. |
