The 4th of July is a great day to take a nice relaxing kayak ride down the river or maybe stop by a parade. Harrison VOCE member Matt Spencer doesn’t settle for one or the other, he’ll take both! Spencer rode his kayak while the rest of the VOCE members followed on a trailer behind him for the Harrison 4th of July Parade. 

Harrison’s Walter Miller recently received the Knight of the Legion of Honor medal for his efforts in World War II. The Legion of Honor is the highest decoration bestowed in France.

Independence Day is a time to reflect upon the freedom granted to us through the sacrifice of others. This Independence Day, more than just Americans were thankful for one of Harrison’s war heroes. 

Cecelia Tumlin, Whitewater Township, shared last year that she was excited for 2015, when she would be old enough to show animals. Now she’ll have to wait one more year before she finally gets to show chickens at the 4-H Fair.

In an effort to protect Ohio’s poultry industry from the ongoing avian flu (bird flu), the Ohio Department of Agriculture has cancelled all poultry exhibitions this year. This includes the Hamilton County 4-H Fair.

Whitewater Township has been  holding public meetings to develop a solution to the fire department’s financial strait over the past several months. Many issues have been identified and a rough blueprint laid out. Now, the township will implement the first phase of their two-phase plan. 

Many community members joined to celebrate our nation’s independence with a parade down Harrison Avenue led by Grand Marshal James Dole. 

Crosby Township celebrated Memorial Day for the 100th time in a row with a grand parade and memorial service ending in the New Haven Cemetery. These pictures are only a few of the many recently printed. To see more, visit the Crosby Township Community Center.
